Dileep's 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' Box Office Nosedive: Collections Crash to Rs 20 Lakhs Daily
Dileep's 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' suffers massive box office drop

The festive cheer has well and truly faded for actor Dileep's latest cinematic offering, 'Bha. Bha. Ba.'. The film, which opened to a decent first-week collection, has witnessed a steep and worrying decline in its box office performance immediately after the Christmas holiday period, now scraping the bottom with daily earnings of just Rs 20 lakhs.

Sharp Decline in Daily Box Office Numbers

The film managed a respectable opening week, amassing a total of Rs 20.9 crores in India net collections. However, the momentum proved to be short-lived. By the end of its 12th day in theatres, the cumulative collection had reached approximately Rs 22.75 crores. The fall began right after the first week, with a clear downward trend in daily earnings.

According to reports from industry trackers like Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 65 lakhs on its 9th day. This was followed by a drop to Rs 45 lakhs on day 10. A minor, unsustainable recovery was seen on day 11 with Rs 55 lakhs, but the bottom fell out on day 12, with collections crashing to a mere Rs 20 lakhs. Day 13 mirrored this dismal performance, adding another Rs 20 lakhs to take the total India net collection to around Rs 22.95 crores.

Alarmingly Low Theatre Occupancy Rates

The poor collections are a direct reflection of the film's failure to pull audiences into cinema halls. On its most recent day, the film recorded an abysmal overall Malayalam occupancy of just 8.57%. The breakdown of show timings paints a grim picture: morning shows managed only 6.00%, while afternoon shows were slightly better at 8.83%. The crucial evening shows saw another dip to 6.61%, with night shows being the relative 'bright spot' at 12.83%.

Star-Studded Cast Fails to Overcome Mixed Audience Verdict

'Bha. Bha. Ba.' is directed by Dhananjay Shankar and boasts a prominent ensemble cast including Dileep, Mohanlal, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Balu Varghese, Saranya Ponvannan, and Redin Kingsley. Despite the high-profile names, the online response from viewers has been largely divided and critical.

Several audience reviews have pointed fingers at the core storytelling. One scathing review highlighted, "There is no logic, sequential coherence - scene continuity, character development… Basically, lazy writing and screenplay and honestly acting was personally weak for me at many places." Another viewer echoed the sentiment, stating, "These days, many filmmakers defend weak writing by branding their movies as 'no logic'… Even a logic-less film needs a well-built and engaging plot, but that effort is missing here." This disconnect with the audience appears to be the primary driver behind the film's rapid decline at the ticket windows.
