The fantasy entertainer 'Karuppu', starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has continued its theatrical run but with a noticeable decline in daily collections. The film has now completed nearly three weeks in cinemas, and recent trends suggest it is entering the final phase of its box office journey.
Day 20 Earnings Show Another Dip
According to Sacnilk estimates, 'Karuppu' earned Rs 1.55 crore India net on Day 20. This figure represents a 24.4 percent drop from the previous day's earnings of Rs 2.05 crore. The total India net collection has now reached Rs 188.45 crore, while the India gross collection stands at Rs 217.87 crore.
Worldwide Total Moves Closer to Rs 300 Crore
On Day 20, the film added Rs 50 lakhs from overseas markets, bringing the overseas gross total to Rs 79.25 crore. Combined with domestic earnings, the worldwide gross collection has touched Rs 297.12 crore, inching closer to the Rs 300 crore milestone.
Among all language versions, Tamil remained the strongest contributor on Day 20, generating Rs 1.25 crore from the total India net collection. The Telugu version contributed Rs 30 lakhs. Occupancy figures also showed stronger response during later screenings, with the Tamil version recording an overall occupancy of 15.15 percent. Night shows witnessed the highest audience turnout at 17.23 percent, while morning screenings remained relatively lower.
Positive Reactions Continue Online
The film is receiving encouraging responses across social media platforms and audience discussions. One viewer wrote, 'Suriya needed a win. The producer badly needed a win. More importantly, Kollywood needed a win. I'm happy that this film is being celebrated. RJ Balaji has done something only few can claim; it is not easy to have the journey he's had. RJB has been promoting Karuppu as a film with an interesting first half and a pakka-commercial second half. So, with low hopes, I went in and I have to say, I enjoyed this film.' Another added, 'Karuppu starts with an interesting and refreshing premise – the clash between God and Human – and RJ Balaji smartly uses that setup to deliver several engaging moments in the first half. The writing there feels clever, packed with tricky ideas that actually work and keep the audience invested. However, the second half takes a much safer route.'
