Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Struggles at Box Office, Collects Only Rs 2.16 Cr in 7 Days
Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Fails at Box Office, Rs 2.16 Cr in 7 Days

The highly anticipated epic film 'Vrusshabha', starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, has failed to gain momentum at the box office, posting alarmingly weak numbers in its first week. Despite the star power and a pan-India release, the film's collections have remained stagnant with no signs of improvement since its debut.

Dismal Box Office Numbers Paint a Grim Picture

The worldwide collection for 'Vrusshabha' stands at a mere Rs 2.16 crores after seven days. A closer look reveals that the India net collection is Rs 1.64 crores, while the India gross figure is slightly higher at Rs 1.91 crores. The overseas market has contributed a paltry Rs 25 lakhs, adding to the film's woes.

Malayalam Version Fails to Rally Its Core Audience

Even in its primary language, the film is struggling to attract audiences. The Malayalam version's total net box office collection until day seven is approximately Rs 1.1 crores. The daily earnings tell a story of consistent decline:

  • Day 7 collection: Just Rs 3 lakhs.
  • Day 6 collection: Rs 6 lakhs.
  • Day 5 collection: Rs 9 lakhs.

This downward trend indicates a severe lack of audience interest and word-of-mouth support.

Pan-India Dream Falters as Other Language Versions Flop

The film's attempt to capture a pan-Indian audience has met with little success. The performance in other major languages has been negligible.

The Hindi version has managed a total collection of only Rs 10 lakhs in seven days. Its seventh-day earnings were a meager Rs 1 lakh, mirroring its collections on days four, five, and six.

The Telugu version has fared slightly better but remains weak, with total earnings of Rs 38 lakhs. It collected Rs 5 lakhs on day seven, after earning Rs 1 lakh on day six and Rs 6 lakhs on day five.

The Kannada version is the poorest performer. Its total collection sits at a dismal Rs 6 lakhs, with daily earnings hovering around Rs 1 lakh from day two onwards.

Makers' Grand Vision Contrasts with Box Office Reality

In a recent interview, the creators of 'Vrusshabha' had emphasized their uncompromising stance on quality. They stated their commitment was to deliver the best cinematic experience as a festive gift to Mohanlal's fans and global cinema lovers. The team highlighted the extensive post-production and cutting-edge VFX work involved, releasing a motion poster to showcase the film's epic scale.

Directed by Nanda Kishore, the film features Mohanlal alongside a cast including Ragini Dwivedi, Neha Saxena, Ramachandra Raju, Mohammad Ajum Ali, and Nayan Sarika. Despite the grand vision and technical effort, the audience response has been overwhelmingly tepid, leading to one of the most disappointing box office openings for a Mohanlal-starrer in recent times.
