Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Struggles at Box Office, Collects Only Rs 2.04 Crore Worldwide
Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Fails to Pick Up at Box Office

The highly anticipated pan-Indian film 'Vrusshabha', starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, is facing a severe setback at the box office. Despite its grand scale and multi-language release, the film has failed to attract audiences, showing no signs of recovery even on its sixth day in theatres.

Disappointing Box Office Numbers Revealed

The worldwide collection for 'Vrusshabha' stands at a mere Rs 2.04 crores after six days. The domestic performance is particularly weak, with India net collections reaching only Rs 1.54 crores and the gross figure at Rs 1.79 crores. The overseas market has contributed a paltry Rs 25 lakhs, painting a grim picture for the film's commercial prospects.

In its primary Malayalam market, the situation is dire. According to data from the Sacnilk website, the film managed to collect just Rs 6 lakhs on day six. The total Malayalam net collection is approximately Rs 1.07 crores. The day-wise trend reveals a steady and worrying decline:

  • Day 3: Rs 15 lakhs
  • Day 4: Rs 10 lakhs
  • Day 5: Rs 9 lakhs
  • Day 6: Rs 6 lakhs

The film has shown no uptick during the weekdays, indicating a complete lack of momentum.

Other Language Versions Also Flop

The film's performance in other Indian languages is equally dismal, highlighting its failure as a pan-India project. The Hindi version has been rejected by audiences, with a total net collection of just Rs 9 lakhs. Day six added a negligible Rs 1 lakh to this total.

The Telugu version has fared slightly better but remains weak, with total collections around Rs 33 lakhs. It too added only Rs 1 lakh on the sixth day. The Kannada version is the worst performer, with total earnings of a mere Rs 5 lakhs, and day six again contributing just Rs 1 lakh. Across all languages, the box office trend remains flat, with no significant collections from any region.

Mohanlal's Reflections on the Challenging Project

During the film's trailer launch, Mohanlal had spoken candidly about the arduous journey of making 'Vrusshabha'. He emphasized the extensive time required due to heavy CGI work. "It took a lot of time to make the film because of extensive CGI work," the actor stated. He described the film as one packed with emotions, narrating a tale that spans two distinct eras.

Mohanlal also acknowledged the numerous hurdles faced by the team during production. "We faced many issues during the making of the film, and I thank all the actors who stood by the project and made it possible," he expressed with gratitude. Significantly, the veteran actor highlighted that this project was a departure from his usual work, stating, "For me, it is a different film."

Despite the evident hard work, passion, and technical scale invested in 'Vrusshabha', the box office numbers have so far failed to reflect any of that effort. The film's performance stands in stark contrast to the expectations set by its pan-Indian appeal and Mohanlal's star power, marking one of the major box office disappointments of the year.
