Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Struggles at Box Office, Earns Just Rs 1.11 Cr in 3 Days
Mohanlal's 'Vrusshabha' Flops, Collects Rs 1.11 Cr in 3 Days

The much-anticipated pan-Indian film 'Vrusshabha', starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, is facing a severe setback at the box office. The film, which released on Thursday, has failed to attract audiences, leading to alarmingly low collections over its crucial opening weekend.

Disappointing Box Office Numbers Reveal a Downward Trend

According to early estimates from industry trackers, 'Vrusshabha' managed to earn a meager Rs 19 lakhs India net on its third day (Saturday) across all its language versions. This poor performance has pushed the film's total three-day collection to approximately Rs 1.11 crore. Data indicates the film had collected about Rs 92 lakhs in its first two days, meaning the third-day drop was significant and worrying for its producers.

The day-wise breakdown paints a clear picture of decline:

  • Day 1 (Thursday): The film opened with Rs 60 lakh India net. The Malayalam version was the primary contributor, while collections from the Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada dubs remained negligible.
  • Day 2 (Friday): The film witnessed a sharp fall, collecting only Rs 32 lakhs.
  • Day 3 (Saturday): The earnings fell further to an estimated Rs 19 lakhs, signaling a lack of positive word-of-mouth.

Abysmal Theatre Occupancy Across Languages

The occupancy figures released for Saturday confirm the dismal public response. In its core Malayalam market, the overall occupancy was a paltry 9.05 percent. Morning shows were particularly empty, with night shows performing only slightly better but still weak.

The Hindi version fared no better, recording an overall occupancy of just 10.52 percent. Even the prime evening shows failed to pull in substantial crowds, indicating a complete lack of buzz in the crucial Hindi-speaking regions. This pan-India strategy has clearly not resonated with audiences outside the film's home territory.

Audience and Critical Reception Mostly Negative

Social media reactions to 'Vrusshabha' have been mixed but are leaning heavily towards negative. One viewer's critique summed up the sentiment, stating the film lacked both style and substance. They pointed to sloppy CGI, uninspired costume and set design, a low-effort screenplay, poor writing, and minimal character development as the film's core failures.

Directed by Nanda Kishore, the film features an ensemble cast including Ragini Dwivedi, Nayan Sarika, Mohammad Ajum Ali, Ramachandra Raju, and Neha Saxena alongside Mohanlal. Despite the star power, the project is now inching dangerously close to being declared a box office flop. The coming weekdays will be critical, but the current trend suggests a very difficult road to recovery.
