Parasakthi Box Office Collection Day 6 Report
The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Parasakthi continues its theatrical journey with steady numbers. After six days in cinemas, the film has yet to cross the significant Rs 40 crore mark in India. Current figures place its domestic earnings at Rs 35.85 crore.
Holiday Boost for Collections
Day six brought a welcome uptick for the film. On Makar Sankranti, a holiday observed across many parts of the country, Parasakthi collected approximately Rs 5.1 crore. This performance marked a strong recovery from the previous day's collection of just Rs 2.55 crore.
The film's worldwide total now stands at an impressive Rs 63.5 crore. On the ticketing platform BookMyShow, it has reportedly sold close to one million tickets, indicating solid audience interest.
A Turbulent Release Window
Parasakthi hit theatres on January 10, entering a crowded and competitive festive season. Its release was notably hasty. The production team received the censor certificate only a day before the scheduled premiere. They were required to implement last-minute changes, which severely hampered advance booking opportunities.
This rushed process forced the team into a frantic editing marathon. In a recent interview, Sivakarthikeyan revealed the intense effort behind the release. "We received the changes at the last minute," he stated. "Our team functioned like a military camp, making 25 cuts in just 10 hours. We were purely chasing the release date."
Competitive Landscape and Missed Opportunities
The film's box office path has been uneven. It opened strong with Rs 12.5 crore on day one, followed by Rs 10.1 crore on day two. However, collections saw a sharp decline on the third day, dropping to around Rs 3 crore.
Initially, Parasakthi seemed poised for greater success. It gained a strategic advantage when the release of Vijay's Jana Nayagan was postponed due to its own censor issues. This delay allowed Parasakthi to secure more screens in Tamil Nadu, theoretically reducing direct competition.
Despite this, the film has not met some expectations. Analysts suggest that mixed critical reviews and the disruptive, last-minute censor process may have impacted its performance. The festive week also saw several other major releases vying for audience attention.
Other notable releases during the Pongal season include:
- Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar (Tamil)
- Chiranjeevi's Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu (Telugu)
- Ravi Teja's Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignyapthi (Telugu)
- Prabhas's The Raja Saab (Telugu), which benefited from an early release.
Chiranjeevi's film, in particular, has reportedly crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, highlighting the competitive intensity of the season.
As Parasakthi moves into its second week, all eyes remain on whether it can sustain momentum and finally surpass the Rs 40 crore milestone in the Indian market.
