The latest Tamil film 'Karuppu,' starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, is making waves at the box office. Directed by RJ Balaji, the movie is inching closer to the Rs 100 crore mark in India. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay recently extended his wishes to the team after its strong box office performance. He spoke with producer SR Prabu and congratulated him on the film's success.
Makers Share Post Meeting CM Vijay
The makers of 'Karuppu' took to social media to announce that the team met actor-turned-politician and Tamil Nadu CM Vijay. They shared a picture from the meeting and wrote, "We are overjoyed to share that our Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Joseph Vijay, has extended his heartfelt wishes and congratulations to our producer @prabhu_sr for the grand success of THE ONE @Suriya_offl's #Karuppu. It is truly wonderful and heartwarming for our entire team to receive his wishes." The meeting included producer S. R. Prabhu along with members of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association. A group from the film industry joined him, including top office-bearers like the president, general secretary, treasurer, vice-presidents, and joint secretaries of the association.
About 'Karuppu'
In 'Karuppu', Suriya plays Saravanan, a lawyer who later takes the form of local deity Karuppusamy. The story follows a father and daughter who get trapped inside a corrupt legal system. Apart from directing the film, RJ Balaji also plays the main villain. The cast includes Indrans, Natty, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maya Ravi, and Supreeth Reddy in important roles. The music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
'Karuppu' Box Office Collection
As of May 19 afternoon, the film has made a net of Rs 1.99 crore today across 2,407 shows. This brings the total India gross collections to Rs 97.65 crore. Additionally, the film has made worldwide collections of Rs 142.30 crore so far.
