Archana Puran Singh's Son Aaryamann Reveals 15-Year Depression Battle and Bullying Trauma
In a deeply emotional and revealing YouTube podcast, Aaryamann, the son of renowned actress and television personality Archana Puran Singh, has shared his harrowing 15-year struggle with depression, bullying, and severe injuries that shattered his dreams. The candid discussion has moved his mother to tears, highlighting the silent battles many face behind public personas.
Childhood Bullying and Social Isolation
Aaryamann recounted experiencing bullying from a young age due to his athletic abilities. "I was always different when it came to sports," he explained. "I was good at football, so I usually played with older kids. Since I was younger than them, they used to bully me." He described how they would exclude him, make fun of him, and even steal his belongings. Ironically, when playing with peers his own age, he sometimes adopted bullying behaviors himself, which he now regrets.
Career-Ending Injuries and Shattered Dreams
The mental health struggles were compounded by physical trauma. Aaryamann detailed a devastating sequence of injuries that ended his football aspirations. After breaking his leg in London with a hairline fracture, he returned to India and resumed playing for Maharashtra, only to suffer a catastrophic leg break in front of his family. "I'm not crying because of the pain. I'm crying because my dream is gone," he recalled telling onlookers. His medical history includes:
- Multiple leg surgeries
- Two broken nose incidents from football
- Six or seven broken bones total
- A broken hip
Fifteen Years of Undiagnosed Depression
Most startling was Aaryamann's revelation about the duration of his mental health battle. "I didn't even know that from the age of maybe 14 or 15 until about 28 or 29, I was depressed," he shared. "For almost fifteen years, I think I was living in depression." He described most days during that period as consumed by this state, struggling to comprehend how someone could remain depressed for so long without recognition.
The Darkness of Depression and Family Support
Aaryamann painted a vivid picture of his lowest points: "My anxiety and depression had reached such a bad point that everything felt dark. It felt like there was no light." He experienced the world in almost black and white, crying constantly and questioning his well-being daily. His recovery required tremendous effort from both himself and his family, particularly his mother Archana Puran Singh, who supported him throughout. "Every day I would ask her, 'Mom... am I okay?'" he remembered.
A Message on Mental Health and Happiness
In his podcast, Aaryamann emphasized that external appearances can be deceiving. "The truth is, every person has something going on inside them," he stated. He challenged the assumption that wealth guarantees happiness, citing examples like Elon Musk and Hollywood divorces. "Happiness is not directly connected to money," he argued, noting that while money provides comfort, it isn't a universal solution to emotional struggles.
This powerful disclosure comes as Archana Puran Singh continues to entertain audiences on The Great Indian Kapil Show, reminding us that behind the laughter and fame, real human struggles often remain hidden until courageously shared.
