Abhijeet Ghoshal, the acclaimed singer known for his eleven consecutive wins on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, has released his debut original track titled 'Maa Tu Kyun Chali Gayi'. The song is a deeply personal tribute to his late mother, capturing the emotions and memories from his childhood in Prayagraj and the void left after her passing.
A Song Born from Grief and Memories
In an interview, Abhijeet revealed that this was the first song he ever wrote. 'My mother had been unwell for years, and after she passed away, there were so many emotions and memories that stayed with me. Somewhere, this song was always living inside me,' he shared. The track features simple, heartfelt lyrics that revisit relatable moments of growing up in a middle-class family, evoking a sense of nostalgia and loss.
Encouragement from Guru Shekhar Sen
The song came to life after encouragement from his guru, Shekhar Sen. 'One day Shekhar da told me, 'Tonight you will write your first song and the title will be Ma.' I was nervous because I didn't know how to write, but when I finally sat down with a diary, the words just flowed naturally,' Abhijeet recounted. This guidance helped him transform his raw emotions into a musical composition.
The Theme of Unfinished Dreams
Abhijeet elaborated on the song's theme: 'I think every child grows up believing there is still time to do more for their mother. But when a mother suddenly leaves, those dreams remain unfinished forever. This song came from that emptiness and those memories that never really leave you.' The track is designed to be a reflective piece, not a fast or upbeat number. 'It's the kind of song that makes you stop for a moment and remember someone you love,' he added.
Abhijeet's Musical Journey
Known for his versatility, Abhijeet has explored various musical styles through Bollywood, devotional, and original tracks. This release marks a significant milestone as his first self-written song, showcasing his depth as a singer-songwriter. 'Maa Tu Kyun Chali Gayi' is now available on streaming platforms, offering listeners a chance to connect with the universal emotion of loss and love for a mother.
