Actress Files Complaint Against Casting Director in Hyderabad

A case has been registered at the Banjara Hills Police Station in Hyderabad after a film actress lodged a complaint against a casting director, alleging cheating, harassment, and criminal intimidation. According to police officials, the complaint was received on the night of June 12. The actress, who has been working in the film industry as a lead performer for nearly 15 years, detailed a series of incidents in her statement to the police.

Dispute over payment for film work

As reported by ANI, in the actress's complaint, a casting director named Prasad approached her in October 2025 via a mutual friend and offered her the chance to be cast in the movie 'Akasham Lo Oka Tara'. According to the actress, she worked on the movie for 41 days, starting from October 21 to December 9, 2025, and was promised an amount of Rs 90,000 and Rs 38,000 for cab fares.

Actress alleges threats and misconduct

The actress further claimed that on February 18, 2026, Prasad asked her to meet him near producer Dil Raju's office in Sagar Society, Banjara Hills, to settle the dues. According to her complaint, instead of making the payment, he allegedly threatened and misbehaved with her. She also alleged that he offered better opportunities in the film industry in exchange for compliance. The actress stated that she managed to leave the situation safely.

Police begin an investigation into the case

She also alleged that when her mother contacted the casting director regarding the pending payment, he used abusive language and issued threats. The complaint further states that he allegedly threatened harm if the matter was pursued further. Based on the complaints, a case has been registered by the Banjara Hills police department under Section 75, 79, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. SI K Vijay is investigating. So far, no arrests have been made.
