MUMBAI: The body of 22-year-old actress Sanchita Ugale was discovered at her residence in Nalasopara East on Monday, according to police reports.
Officers from the Achole police station stated that Ugale, who lived in the Sai Santoshi Building in Achole village, is believed to have taken her own life by hanging from a ceiling fan in her bedroom using a sari. The incident is estimated to have occurred between 7 pm and 7:30 pm on June 14.
Police investigations revealed that the actress had locked the bedroom door from the inside prior to the event. Family members discovered her body and immediately transported her to the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead upon examination.
Authorities confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene.
On Sunday, the Achole police filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), based on a complaint lodged by her father, Machinda Ugale.
Officials stated that further inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to her death.
