Alexa Demie has been making headlines for her role as Maddie in 'Euphoria', which concluded with its season 3 finale today. The end of the hit show has sparked speculation that the actress might be bidding farewell to Hollywood.
Alexa Demie on Retirement Buzz
In a recent interview, Demie addressed rumors that she plans to retire from acting after 'Euphoria'. The speculation began online during the latest season, with fans claiming she intended to leave the industry following her prominent role. However, Demie clarified that the viral comments were made years ago when she faced challenges breaking into Hollywood. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she joked, "Should we just ride with it?"
Early Career Struggles
Demie revealed that while unaware of the online chatter, she recalled a discouraging audition in Los Angeles before landing her breakthrough role. She noted the exclusion of Hispanic actors in a casting notice for a lead role. "I was reading it, and it really hit me - and I kept having that experience," she said. The actress, who is half Mexican, explained that repeated barriers made her question her future. "I was sick of going into those rooms, and this was during that time when you're young and every few months you're just like, 'I'm quitting, I'm quitting,'" she recalled.
Alexa Demie Rubbishes Rumors
Despite early frustrations, she added, "But knowing me, I never would have quit. I'm more of the energy of like, 'No, I'm going to show you I can do it'." The rumors resurfaced from a 2020 episode of The A24 Podcast, where Demie spoke with Nathan Fielder about her frustrations early in her career. At the time, she questioned whether there was enough space for Latina actresses in Hollywood and admitted considering giving up acting.
