AMMA Forms Five-Member Committee for Member Complaints

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has decided to constitute a special five-member committee to address complaints raised by its members, including the one filed by actor Ansiba Hassan against fellow actor and committee member Tini Tom. This decision was made during Wednesday’s executive meeting, which preceded the general body meeting scheduled for June 21.

Committee Composition and Process

According to AMMA president Shwetha Menon, the committee will comprise both AMMA members and independent external experts. Affected parties will be informed about the panel members and the date of the hearing. Menon emphasized that the new panel will ensure an unbiased and comprehensive hearing for all parties involved.

Background of the Controversy

The controversy within AMMA erupted recently after complaints were lodged by actors Hassan, Tom, Neena Kurup, and Lakshmipriya, who alleged systemic issues and unfair treatment within the organization. Additionally, a front office staff member named Athulya filed a complaint alleging workplace harassment and intimidation.

Menon assured that all complaints will be addressed. She stated that the committee’s proceedings will not be one-sided, as has been speculated in the media. The official composition of the panel will be communicated to the complainants via email.

Leak of Audio Recordings

Menon also revealed that AMMA general secretary Cuckoo Parameswaran was responsible for the leak of sensitive audio recordings derived from AMMA headquarters’ CCTV footage. Parameswaran admitted that the confidential audio files were leaked from her custody.

Show-Cause Notices and Media Conduct

Menon said that show-cause notices would be issued to members who violated protocols by speaking to the media without authorization. She expressed disappointment over the lack of direct communication from aggrieved members, noting that only Tom appeared before the executive committee with his grievance. She urged the media not to publish one-sided narratives and stated that everyone knows who is leaking classified information to the media.
