Bollywood Star Celina Jaitly Reveals Shocking Divorce and Abuse Allegations
In a heartbreaking revelation that has stunned her fans and the entertainment industry, actress Celina Jaitly announced on Tuesday that she has divorced her husband Peter Haag and leveled serious allegations of domestic violence against him. The actress, who married Haag in 2011, has initiated legal proceedings that paint a disturbing picture of her married life.
Forced Career Abandonment and Emotional Trauma
Speaking exclusively to Mid-Day, Celina's lawyer Niharika Karanjawala disclosed shocking details about how the actress was allegedly compelled to sacrifice her flourishing Bollywood career. Peter Haag reportedly insisted that Celina abandon her acting profession and relocate to a small Austrian town to support his professional ambitions instead.
"He prevented her from working," Karanjawala stated emphatically, revealing that Celina is now seeking compensation for what she describes as "unrealised potential profits" from the career she was forced to leave behind. The legal representative further alleged that the abuse spanned many years throughout their marriage, encompassing physical cruelty, manipulation, emotional and verbal violence.
According to the lawyer's account, Peter Haag frequently erupted into violent outbursts, physically assaulted Celina, and issued repeated threats. The mistreatment reportedly continued "practically through the entirety of their marriage," creating an environment of constant fear and oppression for the actress.
Dramatic Escape and Property Disputes
The situation allegedly became so dangerous that Celina had to make a desperate escape. She practically had to escape and run to India with nothing, her lawyer revealed. In her hurried departure, the actress couldn't bring her children with her, fearing that her husband might file kidnapping charges that could permanently damage her custody case.
Beyond the domestic violence allegations, a separate civil dispute is unfolding in Mumbai concerning a property Celina purchased in 2004. Karanjawala alleged that during an extremely vulnerable period in 2017—when Celina was mourning the loss of both her parents and one of her newborn twins—Haag pressured her into signing a "gift deed" that transferred ownership of the Mumbai property to him.
"Shortly after she executed the gift deed, he had the rental transferred to his account," the lawyer disclosed. In another shocking revelation, Celina apparently discovered that Haag had sold a jointly-owned property in Vienna without her knowledge. When she confronted him about potentially disposing of the Mumbai home as well, he filed divorce proceedings shortly thereafter.
Legal Battle and Emotional Statement
Karanjawala confirmed that Celina has demanded Rs 50 crore in compensation, along with Rs 10 lakh per month as maintenance from her estranged husband. The legal battle encompasses both the domestic violence complaint and the property disputes.
Following the news breaking about her domestic violence case, Celina took to Instagram to share a powerful message with her followers. Her post featured the hashtags courage and divorce, and she wrote emotionally about her priorities: "My priority remains fighting for my soldier brother, fighting for my children's love, fighting for my dignity. A DV complaint has been filed against all the atrocities and abandonment perpetrated upon me."
The actress emphasized that ongoing legal proceedings restrict her from making further public statements and advised that any official updates would come through her legal representatives. She concluded with an empowering note: "Here is to the year that will not break me. Here is to the year I rise higher than the storm. Here is to the year I reclaim everything that was taken from me."
Celina and Peter, who married in Austria, welcomed their first set of twin boys in March 2012. In 2017, they became parents to another pair of twins, though tragedy struck when one of the newborns passed away due to a hypoplastic heart condition. The case continues to develop as both legal and civil proceedings move forward in what appears to be one of Bollywood's most dramatic marriage dissolutions in recent years.
