Gangavathi (Koppal): Former students of Sri Kottureshwara Composite Pre-University College’s 1998-99 SSLC batch have raised Rs 1.2 lakh for the family of their late classmate Mahantesh. The amount was invested in fixed deposits of Rs 60,000 each for his two children at the Gangavathi post office.
Fixed Deposit Documents Handed Over
The fixed deposit documents were formally presented to the family during a programme held at the Sri Channabasava Tata’s temple premises on Sunday. The classmates met Mahantesh’s family members, conveyed their heartfelt condolences, and handed over the documents in a solemn ceremony.
Alumni Mobilise Support
Following Mahantesh’s recent demise, the alumni quickly mobilised contributions to secure the future of his children. They decided to create fixed deposits in the children’s names as a long-term financial support. The documents were handed over in the presence of family members and friends.
Family Expresses Gratitude
Family member Lakshmikant and teacher S Chandrappa thanked the former students for their encouragement, support, and financial assistance. They noted that the gesture had given the bereaved family strength during a difficult period. The alumni recalled their school days with Mahantesh and pledged continued support and guidance for the children’s education, future, and other needs.
Continued Commitment
The initiative aimed not only to provide immediate financial assistance but also to assure the family of ongoing support whenever required. The programme brought together members of the 1998-99 SSLC batch, many of whom reunited to stand by the family in its time of grief.
Attendees
Mahantesh’s wife Sushmita, his children, brother Prakash, and other family members attended the programme. The initiative drew widespread appreciation after images and details of the programme went viral on social media, with many hailing it as an example of classmates coming together to support a friend’s family in distress.
