Popular actress Eisha Singh is making a comeback on the small screen with her new show, Juhi Mui. The promos have already generated significant buzz online, but not solely for positive reasons. Many viewers have pointed out alleged similarities between the show and the hit Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Promo Sparks Controversy
As soon as the channel released the first promo, social media users quickly noticed parallels between the two shows. Several people expressed their disappointment, claiming that Juhi Mui appears heavily inspired by the K-drama. In the promo, Eisha Singh portrays a lawyer with autism who possesses an exceptional mind and takes on challenging cases that others struggle to solve. While the concept initially caught attention, many viewers felt it closely resembled Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
Viewer Reactions
Sharing their views online, one user wrote, "It is disappointing to see so many projects that feel heavily influenced by popular K-dramas. Instead of relying on stories that have already been told, why not invest in original ideas and give writers the opportunity to create something fresh?" Reacting negatively to the promo, another social media user commented, "As soon as I saw the trailer, I knew this was about Korean drama Attorney Woo. Very obvious if you have seen the show." A K-drama fan added, "She might be a good actress, but over here she can't even act because she is trying to copy Park Eun-bin. I hope she brings originality to the character at least." Another netizen wrote, "ITV broadcasters know only one thing, which is 'remake, remake, remake'. Be it officially or unofficially."
Storyline of Extraordinary Attorney Woo
The 2022 Korean drama starred Park Eun-bin in the lead role, along with Kang Tae-oh and Kang Ki-young. The story revolves around Woo Young-woo, a young lawyer with autism who begins her career at a leading law firm in Seoul. Due to her unique way of thinking and communicating, she is often seen as different from her colleagues, and her behavior is sometimes viewed as unusual or socially awkward.
