Madurai: Actor Gautami Tadimalla on Sunday resigned from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), relinquishing both her basic membership and her role as deputy secretary of the party’s propaganda wing.
Resignation letter details
In her resignation letter addressed to party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, Gautami stated that she was stepping away from the party due to the current political scenario and to focus on social service. She expressed gratitude to former ministers, headquarters functionaries, state wing secretaries, and district-level office-bearers for their support since she joined the party.
Political background
Her departure comes months after she was considered a potential AIADMK candidate for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly election from a constituency in Virudhunagar district. Gautami, who has Telugu roots, had applied for a ticket with the aim of consolidating Telugu-speaking voters in the region. Although she was not nominated, she continued to campaign for AIADMK candidates in and around Chennai.
