Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, known for his fiery temper in the kitchen, has a valuable lesson he wants to pass down to his family—and it doesn't involve any sandwich or donut. The 59-year-old British personality shared a non-negotiable rule in his household that requires absolutely no money.
Gordon Ramsay's Household Rules
Ramsay stated that one of the most significant things he teaches his children is manners. "The one thing I've taught them all, brilliantly, are manners," Ramsay said during an interview with Fox News Digital, before emphasizing, "The most important thing in life, but they cost zero." With the upbringing provided by the chef, he ensures that his children do not exhibit any sense of entitlement around him.
About Gordon Ramsay's Family
Gordon Ramsay, who is feared even in the entertainment industry, shares six children with his wife Tana: Megan, 28, Holly, 26, Jack, 26, Matilda, 24, Oscar, 7, and Jesse, 2. Previously, Ramsay shared details about his children's pursuits during an interview with People Magazine. "Jack's a Royal Marine commando, off defending the country in some of the most extreme conditions," he said, and continued, "Megan's an incredible police officer. Holly's gone into fashion. Tilly (Matilda) is studying at university for her degree. Tana and I came from a family with no degrees."
Gordon Ramsay's Cooking Advice: Don't Season Only at the End
Navigating life with six children is no big deal for the Ramsay family. Tana revealed that both she and Gordon come from families with four siblings, so a big house feels natural to them. However, one thing Gordon cannot tolerate is mistakes in cooking, or the kitchen becomes 'Hell's Kitchen.' Calling out a common mistake, the chef said that seasoning cannot be the last step when cooking a dish. "When you season food, begin small, middle small and correct the seasoning at the end. Don't wait until it's cooked before you start seasoning. Food needs to be cooked with seasoning, not ignored for 90% of the journey," he told Fox News Digital.
Gordon Ramsay's emphasis on manners and proper cooking techniques reflects his dedication to both family and culinary excellence. His advice serves as a reminder that the most valuable lessons in life often come at no cost.
