Jaya Bachchan Slams Pap Culture, Calls It 'Embarrassing' for Celebs
Jaya Bachchan Criticizes Pap Culture at Mumbai Event

Veteran Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan has once again voiced her strong criticism against the growing paparazzi culture that dominates celebrity spaces in India. The outspoken actress did not mince words while expressing her concerns about the lack of ethics and professionalism in today's media landscape.

Jaya's Blunt Take on Paparazzi Behavior

Speaking at a recent event in Mumbai, the National Award-winning actress described the current paparazzi scene as "strange" and took a sharp dig at young actors who reportedly tip off photographers for visibility. She called this trend "embarrassing" and questioned the authenticity of celebrities who need to call cameras to capture their photos.

"I don't know them; I really don't know who these people are," Jaya stated, referring to young celebrities who engage in such practices. "Young toh mera grandson bhi hai, jiski picture release hone wali hai, and he is not on any social media. Everyone teases him, saying that at some point you will have to get on to a social media platform, and he says, 'We will see.' But agar aapko apna photo nikalvane ke liye camera bulana pade, toh what kind of a celeb are you?"

Progressive Advice for Granddaughter Navya

At the same event, Jaya Bachchan offered personal advice to her granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, who will soon turn 28. The veteran actress expressed her progressive views by calling marriage an "outdated institution" and clearly stated that she does not want Navya to get married.

"I don't want Navya to get married. I am a grandmother now. Navya turns 28 in a few days. I am too old to advise young girls on how to bring up children," Jaya explained. "Things have changed so much, and today, little children are so smart, they will outsmart you."

Consistent Stance on Media Boundaries

Jaya Bachchan has built a reputation for being straightforward about her views on paparazzi behavior. She has often been captured reprimanding photographers at public events, questioning their conduct, and advocating for more respectful boundaries between celebrities and the media.

Her latest comments reflect her long-held progressive views on societal norms and evolving family structures. The actress continues to maintain her position despite the changing landscape of celebrity culture and social media influence.

On the work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar's 2023 hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film, released on July 28, 2023, also featured veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, along with Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir and Kshitee Jog.
