In a startling legal twist, popular K-Pop singer and actress Nana is now facing a lawsuit from the very man who was arrested for allegedly breaking into her home and assaulting her mother. The suspect, who was taken into custody in November for the armed invasion, has filed a countersuit against the celebrity, making serious allegations.
The Terrifying Home Invasion Incident
According to a report from complex.com, the incident occurred at Nana's residence in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, which she shares with her mother. In November, a man in his 30s was apprehended for unlawfully entering the home while carrying a weapon. The charges against him were related to armed robbery resulting in injury.
The armed intruder found Nana's mother inside the house and allegedly charged at her. At the time, Nana, famous for the song "Eyeline," was asleep. She was reportedly woken by the sound of her mother's screams. Acting swiftly, Nana helped her mother restrain the suspect and immediately alerted the police.
During the confrontation, the suspect sustained a cut to his jaw. Investigators confirmed that the injury occurred during an act of self-defence by Nana and her mother, and no charges were filed against them for this.
The Shocking Countersuit and Agency's Response
Nana's agency, Sublime, announced on Friday that the suspect has now filed a separate lawsuit. He is accusing Nana of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
The agency has strongly denied these allegations. In a firm statement, Sublime said, "Nana and her family endured severe physical and psychological trauma from an intruder who entered their home armed with a weapon." They condemned the legal complaint, calling the charges baseless.
Sublime further argued that this countersuit represents a form of secondary harm and is an attempt to take advantage of Nana's public profile as a celebrity. The agency emphasized its commitment to protecting the artist, stating it will pursue all available civil and criminal legal measures in response to the suspect's actions.
Nana's Emotional Statement to Fans
Following the news, the 34-year-old singer, who first shot to fame in 2009 as part of the K-pop girl group After School, broke her silence. Taking to Instagram, Nana, also known for the track "This Person," shared a heartfelt message with her fans.
"I thought the fans might be worried about me, so I'm leaving this message," she wrote. "It's been quite some time since I found out that I was sued. I came to know this fact while I was going through a mentally difficult period."
She revealed that the recent events had left her feeling shaken and fragile. Nana explained that she spent a lot of time thinking and reflecting to steady her mind, especially as a fan signing event approached. "I didn't want to break my promise to the fans because of this incident," she stated.
Thankfully, she noted that spending time alone helped her regain some stability. "I try not to deny myself, but simply acknowledge and accept myself," Nana shared. However, she added that to avoid getting hurt again, she feels the need to develop a habit of carefully examining everything. She concluded by expressing hope that such unpleasant events would not recur, while acknowledging the need to navigate these absurd situations.
