Kanwar Dhillon: Patience and Craft Key to TV Success

Television actor Kanwar Dhillon, currently earning acclaim for his portrayal of Sachin Deshmukh in the show Udne Ki Aasha, believes that enduring success in the entertainment industry is built on patience, consistency, and continuous self-improvement rather than the pursuit of overnight fame.

Lessons from Personal Experience

Reflecting on his own journey, Kanwar admits he understands the frustration many actors feel when opportunities do not arrive despite hard work. He shares, "I know how it feels because I have been there. I have sat at home for months, even for a year, not getting what I felt I deserved." However, he notes that those challenging phases taught him a crucial lesson. "One thing I have always believed in is working on your craft. Looking good or having a great physique will not help if you do not know how to act."

Advice for Newcomers

The actor strongly advises newcomers to focus on honing their skills rather than seeking instant validation. He states, "Work on your craft like nothing else matters, and everything else will eventually follow."

Evolution of Success

Kanwar also reveals how his definition of success has evolved over time. Having made his debut with Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha and later gaining recognition through Humse Hai Liife, he recalls that success once meant simply being seen on television. "As an 18-year-old, making it meant being seen on TV and having people cheer for me in college. Later, it meant getting my first lead role," he says.

Changing Treatment from Others

At the same time, he acknowledges that success changes the way people treat you. He remarks, "Suddenly, people who once ignored you at social events and award functions become more welcoming. These superficial things do change once you supposedly make it."

Staying Grounded

Despite the popularity of shows like Pandya Store and now Udne Ki Aasha, Kanwar refuses to be consumed by expectations. He explains, "Not every project guarantees success. Timing, destiny, and luck play a huge role. My job is to give my best and choose projects wisely. I am here to stay, not achieve temporary fame and disappear."
