Khloe Kardashian Opens Up About Past Binge Eating and Divorce-Driven Lifestyle Change
Khloe Kardashian is offering a candid reflection on her journey toward healthier habits, revealing how her divorce from Lamar Odom fundamentally transformed her approach to diet and exercise. The 41-year-old businesswoman and media personality shared these personal insights during a recent episode of her podcast, 'Khloé in Wonder Land.'
Confronting a History of Emotional Eating
In response to a listener's question about binge eating, Khloé confessed she could deeply relate to the struggle. "When I was younger, I used to binge eat. I went to therapy about it," she revealed. "For any emotional thing, I turned to food, and there was just no stopping me. I would eat, eat, eat, literally get sick and then feel disgusted with myself for how much I ate."
She described being trapped in a "vicious cycle" of consuming "horrible foods" to suppress her emotions, a pattern that persisted until her marriage to Odom ended.
Divorce as a Catalyst for Transformation
Khloe identified her divorce as the pivotal moment that redirected her life. "I realized during my marriage that I ate so much and I would eat my feelings and I didn't like how that made me feel," she explained, calling the divorce "really the catalyst" for her subsequent obsession with working out.
She grew weary of the negative impacts her poor dietary choices were having on her overall well-being, which included suffering from "bad skin" and feeling unable to wear a bathing suit comfortably. Having also faced comparisons to her famous sisters, Khloe expressed a strong desire to achieve a "toned" physique and feel confident in her clothing.
The Path to a Healthier Rhythm
Khloe detailed her methodical approach to change, recalling that she first established a consistent "rhythm of working out" before gradually shifting her focus to overhaul her diet. This structured process marked a significant departure from her previous coping mechanisms.
Background on the Marriage: Khloe Kardashian initially filed for divorce from Lamar Odom in December 2013. However, the proceedings were delayed as the couple attempted reconciliation, and were further complicated by Odom's hospitalization following an overdose. The divorce was ultimately finalized in December 2016, closing a tumultuous chapter that, for Khloe, became the foundation for her current health-focused lifestyle.
