A man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife on suspicion of infidelity in the Oon police station area of Khargone district. The accused, identified as Mukesh, a resident of Surpala village, was produced before a court and subsequently sent to judicial custody, according to Oon police station in-charge Dinesh Solanki.
Discovery of the Body
Solanki stated that the body of Mukesh's wife, Sangeeta Bai, was discovered near a stream in an agricultural field at Surpala village on May 28. Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered, and an investigation was launched. The postmortem examination indicated that the woman had died due to severe injuries, leading to the registration of a murder case.
Investigation Findings
During the investigation, it was found that Mukesh frequently suspected Sangeeta's fidelity, which led to recurring disputes between the couple. Additionally, he had assaulted her and threatened her on several occasions. Based on these findings, police took Mukesh into custody for questioning.
Confession and Details
During interrogation, Mukesh confessed to killing his wife on May 27 following an argument over the same issue while they were returning from Iikhi village. Police reported that the accused admitted to first assaulting his wife, then attacking her with a stone, and finally strangling her. He subsequently dumped the body near the stream in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic disputes fueled by suspicion and violence. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of addressing such issues through proper legal and social channels.
