Singer Palak Muchhal has publicly addressed the difficult period her family has endured following the sudden postponement of her brother Palash Muchhal's wedding to Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana. In a candid conversation, she revealed the emotional toll on both families amidst a storm of online trolling and unfounded rumours.
Families Endure a "Very Tough Time"
Speaking to Filmfare, Palak Muchhal did not shy away from acknowledging the strain. "I think the families have been through a very tough time," she stated. Emphasising resilience and hope, she added, "We would like to believe in positivity at this time. We would like to spread positivity as much as we can. We are also trying to stay strong." Her comments mark the first direct response from the Muchhal family since the wedding plans were disrupted.
The Unfolding of Events and Social Media Storm
The wedding of music composer Palash Muchhal and cricketer Smriti Mandhana was scheduled for November 23, 2025. Pre-wedding festivities had proceeded smoothly, with both families participating in rituals and celebrations. However, on the wedding day, an unexpected turn of events occurred. Smriti Mandhana's father fell ill and required hospitalisation. Subsequently, Palash Muchhal was also admitted to a hospital.
Following their return to Mumbai, a barrage of speculation flooded social media. Unverified claims of infidelity on Palash's part began to circulate widely. The rumours gained traction after Smriti Mandhana deleted all wedding-related posts from her social media accounts. Members of the Indian women's cricket team also removed related content, further fueling public conjecture.
Wedding choreographers Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz Khan were erroneously dragged into the controversy but promptly issued statements defending their professional integrity. Amidst the chaos, new rumours surfaced suggesting a rescheduled wedding date of December 7. However, Smriti's brother, Shravan Mandhana, firmly dismissed these claims, telling Hindustan Times, "I have no idea about these rumours. As of now it (the wedding) is still postponed."
Seeking Solace and Moving Forward
In the wake of the postponement and the intense online trolling, Palash Muchhal was photographed meeting spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan. The viral images were interpreted by many as a search for peace and guidance during a tumultuous period.
Palak Muchhal's decision to speak out underscores the severe impact of unchecked rumours and cyberbullying on the personal lives of public figures. While the future date for the union remains uncertain, her message focuses on the families' collective effort to navigate the crisis with strength and a positive outlook, urging the public to do the same.
