Janaki's Illustrious Career
S Janaki, aged 93, passed away on April 28, 2023, in Chennai. She was a towering figure in Indian cinema, having recorded over 48,000 songs in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Her career began in the 1950s and continued for more than five decades, earning her numerous accolades including the Padma Shri in 2013 and the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1981.
