Rakul Preet Singh recently opened up about cheating and forgiveness in relationships, following a playful comment from her husband Jackky Bhagnani that went viral. The actress emphasized that while a one-time slip might be forgivable, cheating is "definitely not okay."
Debate on Cheating During Film Promotion
During the promotions of their upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan, and Ayushmann Khurrana sat down with Mashable India to discuss whether cheating can ever be justified in a relationship. Rakul was unequivocal in her response: "No!" Sara echoed the sentiment, stating, "The least you can do is say sorry, but it is definitely not okay." Rakul added, "Yeah, don't do!"
However, Ayushmann offered a more nuanced perspective, saying, "Marriage has its own rules. At the same time, if sorry has been said genuinely, then why not?" Rakul looked shocked and asked, "Cheating kar ke?" Ayushmann defended himself, saying, "People make mistakes. It may be genuine."
Rakul's Stance on One-Time Cheating
Rakul then attempted to explain her point, noting that it depends on the extent of the cheating. "If cheating is a habit..." she began, but Sara interrupted to ask, "One-time cheating is okay?" Rakul quickly clarified, "I am not okay." Both Rakul and Ayushmann then agreed together, "It is not okay! We are clarifying that." Ayushmann added, "Primarily it is not okay."
Rakul further elaborated, "But if somebody can have a slip, life is too long to not forgive for one mistake." She was quick to clarify that this did not apply to her own marriage, stating, "This doesn't apply to my personal relationship. Please note."
Sara and Ayushmann's Perspectives
Ayushmann sided with forgiveness, reasoning, "Humans make mistakes. But if they are genuinely apologetic about it, and if you feel for that person... life is too long." Sara took a more guarded stance, admitting, "I might forgive but not forget." Rakul pushed back, saying, "But I think if you forgive then you will have to forget," leaving Sara to sum it up: "That's where it gets tricky."
Jackky Bhagnani's 'Situationship' Comment
This conversation follows a viral moment when Jackky Bhagnani commented during an interview with Zingabad, "Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other because that's why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything." The comment was misunderstood by many and spread rapidly on social media. Rakul responded with a fun video where she made Jackky hold his ears and said, "Kitne baar bola hai isko, that we are millennials... Gen Z banne ki zaroorat nahi hain! Bola tha na."
