Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh chose to embody the genuine spirit of giving this Christmas by dedicating her time to a noble cause. The star made a special visit to the Cheshire Homes in Mumbai, an institution dedicated to caring for children with intellectual and physical disabilities, as part of the Bombay Times Christmas Carnival festivities.
A Day of Joy and Celebration
Dressed casually in a stylish red-and-grey striped cardigan paired with denims, Rakul arrived bearing boxes of gifts and treats for the children. Her presence instantly lit up the atmosphere with warmth and festive energy. The actress actively participated in the celebrations, cutting a Christmas cake, engaging in playful games, and dancing enthusiastically to lively music alongside the kids. She also took time to interact meaningfully with the dedicated teachers and caregivers at the home.
Reflecting on the profound experience, Rakul expressed how deeply moving it was. "Spending time with specially-abled children touches you deeply," she said. "You can see unconditional love and joy in their eyes, and their smiles are priceless." She marveled at their pure happiness, noting how their simple excitement over receiving chocolates and gifts served as a beautiful reminder of emotions often forgotten in daily life.
Rakul's Personal Christmas Memories and Traditions
The actress, who hails from Delhi, fondly recalled her childhood Christmas memories. She reminisced about seeing people dressed as Santa Claus around Connaught Place and pestering her parents to take her to meet Santa and receive gifts from his sack. "They took us for a couple of years, and then eventually told us there’s no Santa," she laughed. Rakul admitted she used to eagerly look forward to those gifts and declared her love for everything about Christmas—the vibrant colors, especially red, and the special festive food.
Speaking about celebrating the festival in Mumbai, the 'De De Pyaar De 2' actress shared how her understanding of Christmas traditions expanded after moving to the city's Bandra area. "As a kid, I didn’t know about plum cake, the feasts, and many of the Christmas traditions. Now, it’s become a tradition to have a big feast with friends," she revealed. The celebration holds extra significance as it also coincides with her husband, producer Jackky Bhagnani's birthday, making it a double celebration for the couple.
A Fun-Filled Festive Memory
Sharing one of her most cherished and amusing Christmas memories, Rakul recounted an incident from about five or six years ago. She and her closest friends decided to dress up in coordinated white and red outfits, complete with Santa caps, and roam around Mumbai the entire day. "It was just six of us, going to restaurants, walking the streets and picking up coffee. We were dressed like that from noon till 10 pm," she said. While their festive attire drew curious stares from people wondering about their mission, Rakul fondly remembers it as a day filled with immense fun and laughter.
Rakul Preet Singh's Christmas visit underscores the importance of community and compassion during the festive season. Her actions highlight how celebrities can use their platform to bring attention to meaningful institutions like Cheshire Homes and spread joy beyond the glamour of the film industry.
