Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh has opened up about one of the most difficult phases of her professional life during the production of her upcoming film De De Pyaar De 2. The actress suffered a serious spinal injury that not only halted filming but left her questioning her ability to walk again.
The Devastating Back Injury That Halted Production
Rakul Preet Singh revealed that she sustained a severe spine injury immediately after completing approximately 50 percent of the shooting for De De Pyaar De 2. The injury occurred following a workout session and had immediate catastrophic consequences for both her health and the film's schedule.
"I had a back injury during the shoot of De De Pyaar De 2. A spine injury. I had finished 50 per cent of the film when I got that injury, and I was bedridden for 40 days," the actor confessed during her conversation with Team Varinder Chawla. She described her condition during this period as being "like a vegetable" and shared her genuine fear about not knowing when she would walk or stand again.
The pain was so debilitating that it rendered her completely immobile, forcing the production team to implement an unexpected three-month hiatus in filming while she focused entirely on her recovery process.
Filming Challenges and Remarkable Recovery
Even when Rakul eventually returned to the set, her recovery journey made the shooting process exceptionally challenging. The actor disclosed that she couldn't sit on regular chairs and had to film numerous scenes while lying on a physio bed, a fact that audiences would never detect in the final product.
"When I resumed, I couldn't even sit on a chair like this. I shot half the film on a physio bed, which you can't tell," she explained, highlighting the professional commitment she maintained despite her physical limitations.
The complete recovery process proved to be lengthy, with Rakul noting that it took almost a full year for her to completely regain her strength and normal mobility after the spine injury.
Cybercrime Crisis Amid Physical Recovery
While battling her physical health challenges, Rakul faced another unexpected ordeal in the digital space. Following similar experiences reported by fellow actors Shriya Saran and Aditi Rao Hydari, Rakul discovered that someone was impersonating her online and contacting people using her identity.
"My manager sent me snapshots of certain conversations. That's when I realised someone was talking to people like they were me," she revealed. The impersonator had even contacted a photographer she had previously collaborated with, adding credibility to the fake profile.
Rakul has taken official action by filing a cybercrime complaint and issued a public warning about the impersonation. She confirmed that some of her genuine fans had been contacted by the same fraudulent number. Although the imposter didn't appear to be seeking financial gain, the nature of the conversations deeply concerned the actor.
Expressing alarm about the growing trend of image misuse and AI-generated fake content, Rakul identified this as "the most dangerous side of AI." She strongly questioned the ethical implications, stating, "Impersonating someone, celebrity or not, is a crime. Where are the ethics?"
The dual challenges of physical recovery and digital security breaches represent one of the most testing periods in Rakul Preet Singh's career, demonstrating the unexpected obstacles actors can face beyond their on-screen performances.
