Raveena Tandon Recounts 2024 Mob Incident
Actor Raveena Tandon has once again spoken about the shocking 2024 incident in which a mob gathered outside her residence after online allegations claimed her driver had assaulted a woman. The controversy went viral on social media, sparking widespread debate. Nearly two years later, the actress has shared her side of the story in detail, revealing how the situation escalated and how she tried to protect her family and staff.
Speaking on Episode 2 of 'Not Done Yet' with Malini Agarwal by Etimes, Raveena said that CCTV recordings from the building eventually exposed the truth. According to the actress, the allegations against her and her driver were false. “Luckily, we had the CCTV cameras, where immediately, the truth came out. Like I said, Instagram and social media is a boon and a bane. They tried very hard to edit it in such a way,” she said.
Raveena further claimed that the police later informed her the entire episode appeared to be an extortion attempt. “The cops said it was an entire extortion plan. They just wanted to create a ruckus,” she added.
Why Did Raveena Tandon Come Out of Her House?
Addressing those who questioned why she stepped outside, the actress explained that the crowd was allegedly trying to force their way into her home while her children were inside. “There was a mob entry inside my house. My children were there. Anil was at office. You think I’d have let anyone enter my house?” Raveena said. She insisted the group wanted money and intentionally created fear and confusion. “I’d have definitely stood up and fought, but the point here being is they were trying to scare us and settle it for money,” she added.
The actress claimed her driver was wrongly blamed despite no physical contact between the car and the women. “They were blaming him for no reason, when nothing had happened,” she said. She initially stepped outside to calm the situation and apologize. “I thought if the women in the burqas are someone’s guest, I’d go and say sorry on behalf of the driver,” she recalled. However, according to Raveena, things turned aggressive immediately. “As soon as I walked out - I think that’s what they were waiting for,” she said.
Raveena revealed that one of the women allegedly threatened to file a false molestation complaint against her driver after he tried to stop them from recording inside the premises. “My driver was a lone man. They were trying to record my house, so he just put her phone down,” she said. “The minute he did, she went on the tangent of, ‘How can you touch me? I’ll call the cops and file a rape complaint against you,’” Raveena recalled. Fearing serious consequences for her driver, she decided to intervene personally.
“I thought this poor chap is going to go in jail for a false molestation case, so I went out to talk to her, woman to woman,” she shared. The actress alleged the situation became violent when a large group of men gathered outside her gate. “The minute I walked out, there was a mob of 30 men!” she said.
According to Raveena, her driver managed to pull her inside the gate but got stranded outside and was allegedly attacked. “So, they decided to beat him up. I opened the gate, and dragged him inside,” she recalled. She then asked him to stay upstairs with her children while she dealt with the situation.
Describing the chaos, Raveena claimed mob members assaulted security staff, snatched her phone, and attempted to enter her house. “They beat up another watchman. They’d beat up whenever a man would block their way,” she said. The actress added that she and two domestic helpers stood in front of the crowd to prevent them from entering. “It was three women - me and two domestic helps - blocking 30 men. It was crazy!” she recalled. She finally revealed that one man allegedly entered her home, forcing her to physically push him out. “A man even got into my house, and I’ve actually caught him by his shirt and thrown him out,” Raveena said.
