Ravi Kishan, actor and BJP MP, has reacted to the death of 22-year-old television actor Sanchita Ugale, describing the incident as “very tragic” and encouraging young people to find strength through meditation, spirituality, and prayer. He emphasized that sadness and worry are universal but stressed the importance of persevering through difficult times. Kishan also referred to suicide as a sin, sharing his personal religious beliefs about the soul’s fate after death.

Speaking to PTI, Kishan referred to Ugale without naming her directly. “Just yesterday, one of our artists, a young television actor who was only 22 years old, died by suicide. It is very tragic,” he said. He then highlighted the role of spiritual practices in coping with emotional distress. “That is why meditation is important, spirituality is important, and prayer is important. They give us strength. Happiness and sorrow are a part of life and will continue to come and go.”

Kishan added, “There is no person who has never felt sad or worried. But we must continue to live.” He also stated, “Suicide is the greatest sin. The soul never attains liberation,” reflecting his personal religious views.

Sanchita Ugale’s death and police investigation

Ugale was found dead inside a locked room at her home in Nallasopara on June 14, 2026. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police found no suicide note or suspicious objects at the scene, according to Hindustan Times. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. Reports have included claims from her family and colleagues, but police have not announced a final determination on what led to the incident.

Ugale appeared in television shows such as ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’. She also played a younger Tara Rani in the Vicky Kaushal film ‘Chhaava’ and appeared in Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout’. Her death has sparked renewed discussion about mental health pressures within the entertainment industry.
