Actress Aanchal Khurana, who won the reality show Roadies in 2011, recently shared insights into her journey from reality television to acting. Reflecting on her career beginnings, she said, 'I started my career in 2011. By pure chance, I randomly walked into the Roadies audition and participated in the group discussions. I never planned to be an actor, but I ended up winning Roadies Season 8 in 2011. That’s when I realized how well this industry pays. My only goal in life was to make a lot of money honestly, not through anything wrong. I just wanted to be rich and famous.'
Alternate Career Paths
Aanchal believes that if she hadn’t become an actor, she would have pursued a career in fashion or interior design, as she considers herself skilled in designing.
Handling Controversies
Known for her straightforward nature, Aanchal has attracted controversies in the past. When asked if she is more cautious now, she replied, 'I’ve attracted controversies in the past and they still happen whenever I speak. I don't really have a reaction to it because I don't filter myself. I have noticed whenever a girl says truth without a filter, controversy will happen for sure. I don't speak to impress or flatter people. I say what I feel is right without worrying about impressing anyone. I don't care what people think; I only care about my family’s opinion, and they are very proud of me. I am proud of myself too because I choose to stay real in a world full of filters.'
Social Media and Reality Shows
Aanchal won Roadies at a time when social media was not as pervasive as it is today. On this, she commented, 'I won Roadies Season 8 in 2011. The experience was great because I love traveling and the show allowed me to travel for free. I love reality shows because I enjoy being myself. Acting is a bonus, but my true passion is reality shows because I want people to see the real me. I get a lot of love on Instagram for being authentic and speaking without filters or censorship.'
She added, 'I started working before Instagram existed. Nowadays, even being a contestant on Roadies or Splitsvilla brings so much attention. I won those major shows back then, so it does feel a bit bad that I have to work harder on social media now. If social media had been around then, I’d have millions of followers and be much further ahead. It’s frustrating, but I’m not giving up; I’m still working on building a strong social media presence.'
Notable Works
Aanchal is recognized for her roles in various television shows, including Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Sarojini - Ek Nayi Pehal, Meri Saasu Maa, Santoshi Maa, Zindagi Ki Mehek, Tu Sooraj, Main Saanjh Piyaji, Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop, Arjun, Aahat, C.I.D., Savdhaan India, Crashh, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2, and Mujhse Shaadi Karoge.
