After Robin Williams' passing in August 2014, the distribution of his estate became a significant issue. Eleven years ago, his widow, Susan Robbins, along with his three children from previous marriages, were involved in a legal dispute over the estate's distribution. However, within a year, the matter was resolved completely, with all parties reaching an agreement they were satisfied with.
How Susan Williams and Robin Williams' Three Children Settled the Estate Dispute
The actor's wife and his three children from previous marriages—Zachary 'Zak' Williams, Zelda Williams, and Cody Alan Williams—had been engaged in a legal dispute that lasted for a year after the actor's passing in 2014. However, an old report from The Guardian revealed that all parties involved in the case officially reached an agreement that they were all happy and satisfied with.
According to the report, Susan was able to live in the Bay Area house that she and the actor resided in until his passing. Along with that, she was also allotted a watch that he used to wear frequently, along with the bike they bought on their honeymoon, as well as the wedding presents they received. It was also reported that she would receive settlement money for the rest of her life to manage the house and its expenses.
A statement from her legal representative at the time read: "Susan gets to enforce Robin's wishes. She gets to stay in the house as Robin wanted, with the trust being created to pay the expenses."
Why Did the Legal Dispute Begin?
The dispute began when the 'Mrs. Doubtfire' actor's wife, Susan, filed a petition requesting that all items in the Bay Area home be excluded from the things left to his children in his will. At the time, she also alleged that some of his personal belongings had been taken from the house without her consent. The items in dispute included watches, memorabilia, his wedding tuxedo, and photographs from his 60th birthday.
Robin Williams passed away in August 2014 due to suicide. His demise sent shockwaves through the industry, as he was widely regarded as one of the most revered actors of all time and highly praised for his diverse roles.
