The Rolling Stones' lead guitarist Ronnie Wood has been ordered to repaint the front door of his London mansion. The musician, who purchased the property valued at GBP 7 million several years ago, had painted his main door a bright shade of pink. According to recent reports, local authorities have instructed him to change it back to black.
Ronnie Wood Ordered to Repaint Mansion's Main Door
The Daily Mail reported that Ronnie Wood received an official notice to alter the color of his home's front door from pink to black. A statement from the report indicated that "The council does not like your door being painted a different colour. They like them black."
Another part of the report revealed that the pink hue chosen by Wood is considered inappropriate or out of place for the neighborhood where he resides. The request came after someone photographed his door and filed a complaint, prompting the local council to send a notice demanding repainting. Wood had also sought approval for the color, but he was told to paint it a neutral shade. It was also noted that his neighbor has painted their front door bright orange, while other residents have opted for different colors to keep the area lively.
Ronnie Wood Not the Only Person Asked to Repaint a Door
Many people in the neighborhood have been asked to repaint their doors. In a statement shared by the publication, one resident, aged 97, said: "I'm 97, but I still argue with the council. A neighbour had a shocking pink door, and a lady further down had blue because she liked our blue." Angela Allen, a BAFTA-winning film continuity supervisor, revealed that she painted her door blue nearly five years ago. However, she is now being ordered to repaint it or face a fine of GBP 30,000.
A statement from a council spokesperson said: "These properties form part of a distinctive group of listed buildings within a conservation area, and we have advised residents that changes affecting their historic character may require consent."
More About Ronnie Wood's GBP 7 Million Home
Wood purchased the expensive mansion years ago, moving in with his wife Sally Humphreys and their twin daughters. He has lived there ever since. The house is situated in Maida Vale, London, and has been the singer's primary residence for years. His front door has remained pink for a long time. The couple bought the home and moved in back in 2017. While the main door is pink, his front gate has always been black.
On the work front, the guitarist is planning a solo tour and preparing for the release of the Rolling Stones' 25th studio album titled 'Foreign Tongues', set to be released on July 10 next month.
