Saiee Manjrekar on Breaking Star Kid Stereotype in Bollywood
Saiee Manjrekar on Breaking Star Kid Stereotype

Saiee Manjrekar, the daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, is challenging the belief that being born into a famous film family guarantees success in Bollywood. As she prepares for her upcoming period drama 'India House,' which marks Ram Charan's debut as a producer, Saiee is determined to build her career based on talent, hard work, and a genuine connection with the audience, rather than relying on her surname.

Saiee Manjrekar on Breaking the Star Kid Stereotype

In a candid interview with Mid-Day, Saiee addressed the privileges and limitations of being an industry insider. She acknowledged that a well-known family name might open some doors initially, but emphasized that it does not ensure lasting opportunities or success. She stated, 'Being an industry kid may help open certain doors initially, but that doesn't guarantee opportunities or success. If the audience doesn't connect with you or accept you as an actor, nothing really goes far.' Her ambition, she added, is rooted in building something entirely her own. 'I want to build a name for myself through my work and connect with viewers across industries,' she said.

Saiee Believes in Hard Work, Discipline, and Staying Grounded

In a separate conversation with IANS, Saiee elaborated on the values that she believes will define her career trajectory, irrespective of her family background. She remarked, 'While my surname may introduce me to people, I believe it's ultimately my hard work, discipline, and persistence that will define my journey.' She further added, 'I've always wanted to step out of the comfort of my film background and create an identity of my own. For me, growth comes from constantly learning, proving myself through my work, and staying grounded through it all.'

More About 'India House'

'India House' is a significant project as it marks Ram Charan's debut as a producer. The film is being shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu and is mounted on a large canvas with a period backdrop. Saiee found the period setting both creatively stimulating and technically demanding. Earlier in April, she mentioned that working on a set recreating a different era is 'very interesting.' The release date of the film has not yet been announced.
