Saif Ali Khan Reveals Why He Shut Down His Film Production Company
Saif Ali Khan on Why He Closed His Production Company

Saif Ali Khan has spoken candidly about the reasons behind shutting down his film production company, which backed several notable Hindi films. While he thoroughly enjoyed the creative aspects of producing, he admitted that the overall responsibility eventually became too exhausting to sustain.

Saif Ali Khan's Journey as a Producer

Saif began his producing journey with the romantic drama 'Love Aaj Kal', directed by Imtiaz Ali. Under his banner, he later supported films such as 'Agent Vinod', 'Cocktail', 'Go Goa Gone', and 'Happy Ending'. Years later, he returned as a co-producer for the family entertainer 'Jawaani Jaaneman'. Reflecting on his experience in an interview with SCREEN, Saif said, “I think it can be an extremely thankless job. But it’s very creative. I like the idea of having an idea and discussing some creatives like the sound and look of things. I did enjoy producing, but it can also be a massive pain.” The actor explained that he loved being involved in shaping a film’s artistic identity, but the practical challenges and constant coordination made the role demanding.

Saif Ali Khan on His Association with Dinesh Vijan

In the same interview, Saif also looked back at his collaboration with producer Dinesh Vijan, who worked with him during those years and has since become one of the leading producers in Hindi cinema. He said, “Things move, people move. You see it all over the place. Dinesh has gone on to become a wonderful producer, and that’s great. We had our time, and I did extremely well out of it, and it had a lot to do with what Eros was doing at the time. It was a wonderful opportunity. But some things are meant to last however long they do.”

Saif Ali Khan Praises Shah Rukh Khan’s Producer Approach

Saif was recently seen in 'Kartavya', directed by Pulkit and backed by Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house founded by Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking about Shah Rukh as a producer, Saif appreciated his unobtrusive style. “Actually, as a producer, he hasn’t made his presence felt in the film. One of the nice things some producers do is give the space and scope to the production. This film has actually been backed by Pulkit. It’s very generous of Red Chillies to do that. We just went to some place in Punjab for a few months, did this film, and came back.”

Kartavya Draws Attention for Its Social Themes

'Kartavya' has generated discussion for its grounded treatment of crime and social issues. As ETimes noted, “Kartavya is an earnest and socially relevant crime thriller that is ultimately undone by its predictability. While it may not offer major twists or a deeply immersive investigation, it remains a decent one-time watch for viewers who appreciate grounded dramas with strong performances and social commentary.”

Saif Ali Khan also got candid about a viral poster clip and his love for poetry. Stay tuned for the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 and Telugu films.
