Shivani Gosain: From Dog Family to Cat Mom of Four Felines

Actress Shivani Gosain Embraces Role as Devoted Cat Mother to Four Feline Companions

Actress Shivani Gosain, currently captivating audiences as Pushpa in the television series Rang Baazi Dilo Ki, has revealed a deeply personal aspect of her life beyond the camera. The talented performer is a dedicated and loving pet mother to four adorable cats named Cookie, Guddu, Jinny, and Johny. In an exclusive and heartfelt conversation, Shivani opened up about her transformative journey from a self-proclaimed "dog family" member to a devoted cat parent, sharing intimate details of how these feline friends entered her life and became an inseparable part of her world.

An Unexpected Discovery on the Terrace

The story began four years ago when Shivani resided in a first-floor apartment featuring a spacious terrace with open areas adjacent to both her bedroom and living room. She noticed cats frequently visiting the terrace, but one particular feline caught her attention due to its secretive behavior. "I observed a specific cat coming and going very discreetly, disappearing on my terrace for extended periods," Shivani recalled. Her curiosity piqued, she decided to investigate further. After the cat departed one day, she checked a small single bed stored at the back of the terrace and made a delightful discovery. "I opened a bed box and found three tiny kittens nestled inside. That moment clarified why the mother cat had been visiting so frequently," she explained, her voice filled with warmth.

Building Trust and Formal Adoption

Shivani and the cat family allowed each other ample time to adjust, gradually building a bond of mutual trust. Initially, the cats were not fully adopted; they simply lived on her terrace for several months. A pivotal moment occurred when Shivani traveled to Kedarnath for a week. "I had arranged for their food and water before leaving, but upon my return, I discovered the mother cat had vanished, leaving the kittens vulnerable and distressed due to harassment from a male cat," she shared. This situation prompted her to take decisive action. She began granting the kittens access to her home, where they quickly adapted, playing and jumping on her bed. "They seamlessly integrated into my family and my life. Honestly, they taught me how to care for them. Whether they adopted me or I adopted them, they became an essential part of my existence," Shivani reflected emotionally.

Learning and Adapting to Feline Needs

Committed to providing the best care, Shivani embarked on extensive research into feline nutrition and hygiene. She learned to set up litter boxes and tailored her home environment to suit her new companions. "I educated myself by searching on Google for everything from litter arrangements to general cat care," she stated. The actress also took the responsible step of sterilizing the cats to ensure their health and well-being. Among the four, Cookie, Jinni, and Johnny are three sisters. Jinni later gave birth to Guddu, who is now two years old, while the other three are four years old. "Jinni had three babies, but only our 'lioness' Guddu survived," Shivani noted, highlighting the challenges and joys of pet parenting.

Managing Work and Pet Care with Ease

Despite warnings from many about the difficulties of managing cats while working long hours on set, Shivani has found a harmonious balance. "Managing them along with work is not difficult at all," she asserted. In her previous home, she kept the entire house open for them, with designated areas for litter, food, and water. She has since made thoughtful adjustments, such as providing scratching posts like tires and tubes to protect furniture. "I don't buy sofas they can scratch, so I make all necessary household arrangements," she explained. In her current residence, she keeps the living room closed but allows access to the back passage and both rooms, even dedicating a separate washroom with a large storage box for litter to accommodate all four cats comfortably throughout the day.

The Joy and Comfort of Feline Companionship

After exhausting days on set, Shivani returns home to her furry babies, who greet her with abundant affection. "When I come home, they wait for me. My best time with them is at night when sleeping or relaxing. As soon as I sit down, whether on the bed or near my favorite window, all four come and sit near me, waiting for love and cuddles," she described lovingly. Her days off are particularly special, filled with relaxed moments and plenty of cuddling. This bond has profoundly changed her perspective on cats, which she once feared. "I used to feel scared of them; they seemed a bit 'evil-ish.' Gradually, I realized how lovely, innocent, loving, caring, sensitive, and sensible they are," she admitted.

A Heartfelt Commitment to Animal Welfare

Shivani's experience has ignited a passion for animal welfare, especially for stray cats. "Many times I get really upset seeing cats on the street in trouble, pregnant every few months, with babies suffering and struggling to survive. If God gives me a chance and I have a place, I'll do something for the stray cats too," she vowed. Her compassionate outlook is rooted in family values, as her mother always taught them to love and care for animals. "Whether it was an injured parrot, sparrow, pigeon, or rabbit, I have always seen this in my family from my mother. We used to take care of them," she shared, underscoring the enduring impact of her upbringing.

In conclusion, Shivani Gosain's journey from a dog-loving family to a devoted cat mom of four is a testament to the unexpected ways love and companionship can enter our lives. Her story highlights the joys of pet adoption, the importance of responsible pet care, and the profound bond between humans and animals, offering inspiration to animal lovers everywhere.
