Popular South Indian actress Sreeleela, renowned for her vibrant screen presence, has revealed a deeply personal and inspiring aspect of her life beyond the arc lights. In a candid interview, the 24-year-old star shared that she is a mother to three adopted children, a fact she kept private for a long time to protect their well-being.
A Mother's Heart Behind the Glamour
While fans know her for energetic performances in films like 'Parasakthi' and 'Mass Jathara', Sreeleela's off-screen story is one of compassion. In 2022, at just 21 years old, she adopted two children with disabilities, Guru and Shobhitha, from an orphanage. Her family grew again last year when she welcomed a baby girl. The actress clarified that while she is their mother, the children live in an ashram under excellent care, a decision made to ensure their stability.
"I fall short of words and get jittery when I talk about it," Sreeleela told Galatta Plus when asked how she juggles parenting with a hectic movie career. She expressed a yearning to have them with her but emphasized their current arrangement is best. "It’s taken care of. I’m not a mother mother because there’s an entirely different story to that," she added, hinting at the nuanced nature of her motherhood.
The Ashram Connection and a Call for Awareness
The connection to the ashram began early in her career. During the filming of the Kannada movie 'Kiss' in 2019, her director took her to the institution, where she first met the children. "The kids live there. We speak on the phone, and I keep visiting them there. It was a secret for the longest time," Sreeleela shared.
She decided to speak out only after the institution encouraged her, hoping her story would inspire others. "The institution wanted me to talk about it so that more people are encouraged. I don’t want to be given credit for anything, but I want people to start looking in that direction," she stated, shifting focus from personal praise to a larger cause of supporting children in need.
From Dance to Medicine to Stardom
Born on June 14, 2001, Sreeleela is a multifaceted talent. She began her acting journey with the Kannada film 'Kiss' and rose to fame through Telugu and Kannada cinema. An accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, she also has an academic background in medical science, showcasing a diverse range of interests and skills.
Her career is now set for a national leap as she prepares for her Bollywood debut. She will star alongside Kartik Aaryan in a musical film directed by Anurag Basu, with music by Pritam. A social media teaser in 2025, showcasing their chemistry, has already generated significant excitement among fans.
Sreeleela's journey redefines the image of a young star, proving that success in the fast-paced film industry can coexist with a profound personal commitment to family and social responsibility.
