Sydney Sweeney's Hollywood Advice: Embrace Rejection, Fuel Passion
Sydney Sweeney's advice for young actors in Hollywood

Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney has offered candid and heartfelt guidance for young performers dreaming of a career in the entertainment industry. Speaking at a recent event, the Emmy-nominated star emphasised that a deep-seated love for acting is the only fuel that can help one survive the inevitable hardships and rejections.

The Core Message: Passion Overcomes Rejection

At the New York City premiere of her upcoming psychological thriller, 'The Housemaid', on December 7, Sweeney shared her perspective with People magazine. The 28-year-old actress stated that resilience is non-negotiable in Hollywood. "Honestly, do it as long as you love it," she advised. "You gotta love it a lot, because it's really hard, and you're going to be told 'no' more than you're gonna be told 'yes'."

She stressed that dealing with constant rejection is a fundamental part of the journey. "You have to deal with rejection, and it's a lot. So if you love it to your core, then none of that matters because you're getting to do what you love," Sweeney noted. Her advice is particularly aimed at child actors, urging them to ensure their motivation comes from a place of pure passion.

From Auditions to Acclaim: Sweeney's Journey

Sydney Sweeney's own career path exemplifies her advice. She began acting in 2009, taking on small roles in popular television series like Grey's Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars. Her breakthrough came in the late 2010s with powerful performances in The Handmaid's Tale, Sharp Objects, and a role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.

However, it was her portrayal of Cassie Howard in HBO's critically acclaimed series Euphoria that catapulted her to fame and established her as a leading young talent. Reflecting on her early days, Sweeney revealed she even enjoyed the audition process. "I loved auditioning, because I was getting to try out all these different characters," she said.

Expanding Horizons: Actress and Producer

In recent years, Sweeney has significantly diversified her portfolio. She has starred in a range of projects from the dark comedy of The White Lotus to the horror of Immaculate and the romance of Anyone but You. She has also stepped into the world of superhero films with Madame Web and taken on producing roles.

Her latest project, 'The Housemaid', which releases in theatres on December 19, sees her serving as a producer. The film, adapted from Freida McFadden's 2022 novel, features Sweeney as a young woman who becomes a housemaid for a wealthy couple, played by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.

Reiterating her central message for the next generation, Sweeney concluded that the key to longevity and happiness in a demanding field like acting is an unwavering love for the craft itself.
