A 17-year-old tourist from Sonbhadra lost his life on Sunday following an alleged altercation with private security guards at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, according to police officials. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday within the jurisdiction of the Adampur police station, as confirmed by Kotwali Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Pratap Singh.

Details of the Incident

Police reported that a group of tourists from Sonbhadra had visited the ghat when a dispute erupted with private security personnel stationed at the ramp gate. The disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the teenager, identified as Rajesh Chintu, sustained injuries. He was immediately rushed to the divisional hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Police Response and Investigation

Law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and detained four individuals for questioning. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to reconstruct the events. Further legal actions will be determined based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, said Singh.
