An unusual protest unfolded at Mahananda Colony under ward 41 of Durgapur Municipal Corporation, where residents voiced their anger over alleged corruption in the distribution of land ownership certificates (pattas). On Saturday, instead of the traditional act of throwing eggs, the protesters forced Sukumar Chakraborty, an aide of former TMC councillor Shipul Saha, to eat an omelette while demanding accountability.

Residents claimed that corrupt practices were preventing deserving beneficiaries from receiving their certificates.
