Varanasi: Geeta Vishwakarma, a member of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission, held a women's public hearing at the Circuit House auditorium on Wednesday. The session aimed to address grievances related to women's welfare and public services.
A total of 28 applications were received during the hearing. Of these, two cases were resolved immediately on the spot. The remaining complaints were forwarded to the concerned departments with instructions for prompt and effective action.
Officials reported that a majority of the applications were related to land disputes. Other complaints included allegations of harassment of women, fraud involving false promises of jobs, illegal occupation of houses, and issues related to medical treatment. All applications were sent to the relevant departments for necessary action and follow-up.
Review of Welfare Schemes
During the meeting, Geeta Vishwakarma also reviewed information regarding various public welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes implemented by different departments. She directed officials to intensify awareness campaigns at the grassroots level to ensure that the benefits of schemes meant for women and girls reach the last beneficiary.
Focus on Skill Development and Rural Livelihood
Special emphasis was placed on expanding outreach efforts for programmes run by the UP Skill Development Mission and the UP National Rural Livelihood Mission. Officials of both departments were instructed to undertake extensive publicity and awareness drives to ensure greater participation and benefit for eligible women.
