Veteran Tamil film producer Rajan died by suicide on Tuesday after jumping into the Adyar River in Chennai, police said. He was 65.

The incident occurred near the Kotturpuram bridge around 11:30 am. Rajan, a resident of Mylapore, jumped into the river and drowned. His body was recovered by fire and rescue personnel later in the day.

Rajan had produced several Tamil films, including Kadhal Kottai (1996) and Gokulathil Seethai (1996). He was reportedly facing financial difficulties and had been under treatment for depression. A suicide note was recovered from his residence, police said.
