In a suspected case of honour killing, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her elder brother in their house at Adampur village in Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred while she was speaking to her boyfriend on the phone, a relationship opposed by the family.

Police said the accused, Amir Ahmer, 25, allegedly slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon. The body has been sent for postmortem, and a search is underway to nab the absconding suspect.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjay Verma visited the crime scene. A forensic team and dog squad were deployed to collect evidence and assist investigators. "We received information through a watchman that a young woman named Ariba, aged around 21-22 years, was murdered by her brother because she used to talk to a young man," said Verma.
