The woman, identified as P Joswin, a resident of Shoolagiri Bazaar Street, discovered the unattended bag on a bus while traveling to Krishnagiri.

Discovery and Immediate Action

While aboard the bus, Joswin noticed a handbag left behind on a seat. Upon opening it, she was surprised to find a substantial amount of cash along with a mobile phone. Without any hesitation, she decided to hand over the bag to the authorities. 'When I opened the bag, I found Rs 38,000 in cash and a mobile phone in it,' she stated. She promptly took the bag to the Shoolagiri police station and reported her find.

Police Investigation and Return of Property

The police launched an inquiry to trace the rightful owner. Their investigation revealed that the bag belonged to K Munirathina, a 28-year-old resident of Elaseppally village near Shoolagiri. Munirathina had unknowingly left the bag behind after alighting from the bus. 'When I got down from the bus at Shoolagiri, I forgot to take the handbag from the seat,' Munirathina explained. Once the owner was identified, the police handed over the cash and mobile phone to Munirathina, much to his relief and gratitude.
