The roster this year is much smaller than in previous contests. This is due to the fact that a total of five countries are boycotting the event this year. The move comes after calls to exclude Israel and its entry from the competition were made to the Eurovision Broadcasting Union. However, the EBU went forward with the decision to have Israel participate in this year's music competition. Following this, Spain, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia all withdrew their entries from this year's competition.
