The action drama 'Karuppu', starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, has begun its advance booking journey on a strong note. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on May 14, and advance bookings are now open in India as well as overseas markets.

Advance bookings in India began on May 10, coinciding with the launch of the film's trailer. The response in Tamil Nadu was immediate and encouraging. Box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty reported that 'Karuppu' crossed Rs 10 lakh in advance sales within just 19 minutes of bookings opening. The tweet read, '#Karuppu mined 10 Lakhs Pre-sales from Tamilnadu Box-office within just 19 Minutes after bookings opened : Great Start, Only limited shows opened as of now : More screens & shows will open in coming hours : NB : Gross from limited shows opened before 07.00 PM is not included.'
Worldwide Advances Near Rs 2 Crore
According to Republic World, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the biggest contributor to the film's advance bookings. The report states that 'Karuppu' crossed Rs 40 lakh in pre-sales in the state within one hour of tickets going live. The film's worldwide advance bookings are now nearing the Rs 2 crore mark.
Trailer Reveals Courtroom Drama and Action
The trailer, released yesterday, introduces an elderly man and his granddaughter, who are repeatedly summoned to court in connection with a pending case. RJ Balaji appears as a lawyer arguing against them, while Trisha Krishnan plays the advocate fighting for their cause. Suriya's character steps in to ensure justice is served.
'Karuppu' is directed by RJ Balaji and is based on a screenplay by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, TS Gopi Krishnan, and Karan Aravind Kumar. The film also features Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, and Sshivada in key roles.
