Vedang Raina on Singing for Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ Under A R Rahman
Vedang Raina on Singing in ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’

In a nostalgic nod to the era of legendary singer Kishore Kumar, Vedang Raina is seen and heard singing in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, under the musical direction of A R Rahman. In an exclusive interaction, Vedang expressed his gratitude, saying, “I guess I am blessed.”

Working with Imtiaz Ali and A R Rahman

“In ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, I got to work with one of the directors on my wishlist, Imtiaz Ali. I also get to sing for my own character, and that too for Rahman Sir,” added the actor, who previously sang ‘Maskara’ in the film. Vedang Raina, known for his role in ‘Jigra’, hopes to revive the singing-star era reminiscent of Kishore Kumar. “I don’t know how much I can bring back, but I definitely want to pursue my singing. More than that, I want to create my own music. I have a real passion for that, and I’m simultaneously going to work on that craft as well. Maybe someday I’ll end up releasing something as well,” he shared.

Singing for His Own Characters

Like Kishore Kumar, Vedang aspires to sing for the characters he portrays. “Hopefully, I will get opportunities to sing in the films that I feature in. And maybe one day I can release an album. I performed in school and college quite a bit. I did some gigs here and there,” he said. This is not the first time Vedang has lent his voice to a film. In Karan Johar’s ‘Jigra’, he sang the classic Kishore Kumar song ‘Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka’. Reflecting on the experience, he noted, “That was different. I didn’t get to lip-sync ‘Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka’ in ‘Jigra’. But here in ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, I get to sing for my character. It’s a big hill.”
