Euphoria S3E5 Cliffhanger: Rue Buried Alive

Spoiler alert: This article contains major spoilers from Euphoria season 3, episode 5, "This Little Piggy", including details about Rue's dangerous cliffhanger ending.

Euphoria season 3 has crossed its halfway point, and episode 5 ended with one of the show's most tense cliffhangers yet. The latest episode, titled "This Little Piggy", dropped on Sunday, May 10, and put Rue, played by Zendaya, in serious danger after her secret work with the DEA started to fall apart. The final scene left viewers questioning whether the HBO drama just teased the death of its main character.

Rue's Fate in Euphoria Season 3 Episode 5

According to Just Jared, episode 5 carried the logline: "She would never say it out loud, but Nate (Jacob Elordi) going broke finally granted Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) permission to follow her dreams." The episode followed several characters as their lives continued to unravel. Rue's story took the darkest turn. Earlier in the season, police pulled Rue over and pushed her into working with the DEA. Her job was to help them target her old boss Laurie, played by Martha Kelly, and her new boss Alamo, played by Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje.

That arrangement became dangerous in episode 4, when Rue nearly exposed herself. Episode 5 made the threat worse. Rue tried to frame Magick, played by Rosalia. Magick then convinced Alamo that Rue was the snitch.

What Happened to Rue in Euphoria Season 3?

While Rue was out with Maddy, played by Alexa Demie, Alamo sent her away with his men, G and Bishop. G is played by Marshawn Lynch, while Darrell Britt-Gibson plays Bishop. The men drove Rue to a remote spot and ordered her to dig a ditch. They then buried her up to her neck. In the final moments, Alamo arrived on a horse while swinging a mace. Before viewers saw what happened next, the screen cut to black. The ending fueled fan speculation that Rue could die before the series ends. That theory grew stronger because episode 6 reportedly does not include any scenes with Rue.

Euphoria season 3 has three episodes left. The final episodes will air over the next three weeks, with the season finale set for May 31.
