The critically acclaimed rural comedy-drama series 'Panchayat' is officially moving ahead with its fifth season. The makers have confirmed that the next chapter of the Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, and Raghubir Yadav starrer will arrive in 2026. The show will return to the fictional village of Phulera after season 4 left viewers with major questions regarding the village election, Abhishek Tripathi's future, his bond with Rinki, and the attack on Pradhan Ji.
'Panchayat' Season 5 OTT Release Details
According to The Economic Times, 'Panchayat' Season 5 was announced as part of Amazon Prime Video's new Indian content slate and will stream exclusively on the platform. While an exact release date has not been announced yet, a 2026 premiere window is confirmed. The new season will once again follow Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, as he navigates life in Phulera. Abhishek's journey from an engineering graduate to a panchayat secretary remains the central focus of the story. Season 5 is expected to bring back Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Sanvikaa, Faisal Malik, and Chandan Roy in their respective roles.
The series is produced by The Viral Fever (TVF). Chandan Kumar has written the show, while Deepak Kumar Mishra has directed it. The makers have built 'Panchayat' around simple humor, village politics, and emotional conflicts, which have resonated deeply with audiences.
'Panchayat' Season 5 Plot and Cast
Season 5 will take the story forward from the events of season 4. The earlier season ended with Abhishek clearing his CAT exam and expressing his feelings for Rinki. Simultaneously, the village election altered Phulera's power dynamics after Manju Devi lost to Kranti Devi. Writer Chandan Kumar had earlier told IANS that the next season will answer questions about the election, Sachiv ji and Rinki's relationship, and the mystery behind the attack on Pradhan Ji. However, he also indicated that the answers will come with unexpected twists.
Neena Gupta also reacted to fan theories about Manju Devi's political comeback. She jokingly said, "The script has leaked. Get ready for the next season - the script has already leaked!"
The official synopsis states that Abhishek will face a difficult phase under "new, vengeful leadership." While he focuses on his MBA plans, unresolved village conflicts continue to pull him back into Phulera's politics.
The streamer has also announced new seasons of TVF's 'Sandeep Bhaiya' and 'Gram Chikitsalay' as part of the same content slate, further expanding their lineup of original Indian series.
