Abhimanyu Singh has opened up about his successful journey in the South film industry and his memorable experience working with Vijay. In a recent interaction, the actor spoke about the overwhelming love he received after Rakta Charitra and even recalled a terrifying near-death experience while shooting an action sequence with Vijay.
Early Struggles and Breakthrough
Abhimanyu briefly mentioned that despite debuting with Amitabh Bachchan in Aks, his struggle continued after the film failed at the box office. He also recalled being recommended by Manoj Bajpayee for the film.
Transition to South Cinema
Speaking about his transition to South cinema, Abhimanyu said his life changed after Rakta Charitra. "As soon as I did 'Rakta Charitra', people there embraced me with open arms. There was a sudden craze. There was no struggle there. The doors opened directly, and big films came into my lap," he told Hindi Rush. The actor added that he received immense love and respect from audiences in Hyderabad and across the South industry.
Abhimanyu also shared how he tackled the language barrier while working in Telugu films. Instead of simply memorising dialogues, he made sure he understood every line and scene properly. "I had seen some actors who only did lip movements. They did not even know what they were saying. I said this is the easy route, I do not want to do this," he shared.
Dangerous Action Sequence with Vijay
Talking about Vijay, Abhimanyu described him as "simple" and "grounded" despite being a massive superstar. He then narrated a shocking incident from the shoot of one of their films, where both actors performed a fight sequence atop a moving train without any safety support. "The train was at a speed of 90-100 km per hour, and below there was a 2500 feet deep gorge. If my foot slipped, I would have caught Vijay; if his slipped, he would have caught me, and both of us would have died. There was zero safety," he recalled.
Abhimanyu admitted the incident left him shaken for days. "For six to seven days, I did not sleep. That was a narrow escape from death," he said.
Loyalty of South Audiences
The actor also highlighted the loyalty of South film audiences toward their stars. "The audience there is very loyal to their stars. Fans there truly respect their stars, they worship them," he said.
Abhimanyu Singh's journey from Bollywood struggles to South success is a testament to his perseverance and talent. His near-death experience with Vijay underscores the risks actors sometimes take for their craft, while his admiration for South cinema's culture reflects the deep connection between stars and their fans.
